Project for the enhancement, use and accessibility of the convent complex of S. Vivaldo (Montaione)

This particular sanctuary, also known as the Jerusalem of Tuscany due to the topographic similarity with the sanctuaries existing in Jerusalem at the beginning of the 16th century, is located a few kilometers from Montaione, in the center of a vast wooded area. In this place rich in spirituality, between 1500 and 1515, the convent and then thirty-four chapels and temples were built, a substitute pilgrimage destination for all those who could not support the actual journey to the Holy Land.
The restoration and redevelopment project of the historic complex involves the careful and detailed planning of all the restoration and enhancement interventions of the chapels as well as an accurate planning of the redevelopment interventions of the external spaces, such as driveways and pedestrian paths, areas for cultural activities, rest areas and street furniture, areas for equipped parking, land movements for complete use by all and finally a new lighting of the historical architecture and external spaces. The project aims to enhance this complex intended as a great sacred theatre, with a vivid expressive force.
